Club Sports Roundup


Club Ice Hockey hosted Suffolk County Community College at the Northwell Health Ice Center in Eisenhower Park on Sunday, November 11th. Darren Schwartz led the way with 2 goals, while David Frattaroli and Daniel Harchut added a goal apiece as the Pride beat the Sharks 4-0. Liam Hartenstein was brilliant in goal, notching 42 saves on his way to recording a shutout.

Club Softball traveled to Sacred Heart University on Saturday, November 10th to take on the Pioneers. Aly Morganelli’s grand slam gave the Pride a 10-6 victory in game one, but Hofstra would go on to drop the next two games by scores of 12-2 and 3-2.

The Pride were back home on Sunday, November 11th to host the University of Connecticut. Unfortunately, the Huskies overmatched Hofstra on this day, sweeping the series by posting wins of 2-1, 13-1, and 15-3.

Club Equestrian visited the North Shore Equestrian Center in Brookville, New York for a show hosted by LIU Post on Sunday, November 11th. Julia Shalov finished in 2nd place in the advanced walk trot canter, Tekla Simon finished 2nd in the walk trot and Taylor Morgan finished in 2nd in the walk trot canter.

Club Climbing visited Brooklyn Boulders on Saturday, November 10th. The 17 members in attendance challenged themselves all day long, traversing new, more difficult routes and displaying improved climbing since the beginning of the semester.


Club Men’s Ultimate traveled to Princeton, New Jersey on Saturday, November 10th for the Garden State 7 tournament. The team would post wins over NJIT and Princeton University, but would ultimately fall in the semifinals of the tournament to DEVYL (Delaware Valley Youth League).

Club Women’s Ultimate also participated in the Garden State 7 Tournament, posting a victory over Cornell University on the way to a 9th place finish.

Club Powerlifting traveled to Newark, New Jersey for the Revolution Powerlifting Syndicate Autumn Apocalypse meet on Saturday, November 10th. Noelle Arcaro finished first in her weight class, as she posted a squat of 175 lbs., a bench of 90 lbs. and a deadlift of 275 lbs. Andrew Sciglimpaglia finished 1st in his weight class with a 375 lbs. squat, 250 lbs. bench, and 375 lbs. deadlift, for a total of 1000 lbs. Helen Copp (2nd place) and Teale Armknecht (3rd place) also posted very strong performances for the Pride. The team now turns its’ focus to hosting the RPS InsurreXtion meet this weekend at the Hofstra Fitness Center!

In her first competition, Arcaro shined, taking home first place in her weight class by posting a squat of 175 lbs., a bench of 90 lbs. and a deadlift of 275 lbs.

Club Sports Roundup


Club Equestrian hosted their home show at Country Farms in Medford, New York on Sunday, November 4th. Tekla Simon finished in 1st place in the walk trot, while Purva Chavda finished in 3rd place. Overall, it was a very successful day, with 13 members contributing to running a smooth show!

Club Women’s Lacrosse hosted a round robin at Shuart Stadium on Saturday, November 3rd.  In their first game, Hofstra dropped a 9-6 decision to Fordham University, with Zoe Szczotka scoring 4 goals in the loss. Hofstra would bounce back in their next game against Sacred Heart University, claiming an 8-4 victory behind 2 goals from Haylee Molloy and 8 saves from Emily Turrini.

Club Men’s Ultimate traveled to Elmer, New Jersey on Saturday, November 3rd to play in the Fall Brawl Tournament. Hofstra finished 7th out of 16 teams, with a 13-4 win over American University highlighting the weekend.

Club Women’s Ultimate also traveled to Elmer, New Jersey on Saturday, November 3rd to participate in the Fall Brawl. Haley McPartland and Pauline Seibert led the team in scoring on the weekend, as the team dropped several close finishes on their way to an 0-6 record.

Club Ice Hockey hosted SUNY Maritime at the Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow, New York on Friday, November 2nd. The Pride would down the Privateers by a score of 5-1 behind goals from Matt McGuirk, Andrew Gagnon, Brandon Caccavale, Antonio Binotto, and Collin Ewald.

The team was right back in action on Saturday, November 3rd as they traveled to Danbury, Connecticut to face off against Western Connecticut University. In a game that would turn into a seesaw contest, Hofstra would ultimately prevail by a score of 5-3 behind 2 goals from Michael Sweeney, and a goal apiece from David Frattaroli, James Carroll, and Joe Grice. Goaltender Shane Griggs earned his first win in net for the Pride.

Club Roller Hockey hosted their home weekend at Skate Safe in Old Bethpage, New York on Saturday, November 3rd. The team would split their games on the day, triumphing over the University of Vermont 12-3, while falling by a score of 6-2 against division-leading Endicott College. Andrew Gagnon led the team in scoring in the two games, scoring 5 goals and adding 2 assists. 


Club Climbing visited The Cliffs in Long Island City on Saturday, November 3rd for a climb. 18 members attended the event, which was extremely beneficial for new climbers, who got an introduction to lead climbing. 

Club Climbing held their weekly outing at The Cliffs LIC on Saturday, November 3rd.

Club Volleyball participated in a tournament at American Turners University on Sunday, November 4th, with the women’s team placing 4th overall.

Club Bowling held their weekly outing to AMF Garden City Lanes on Tuesday, November 6th. Steven Chung bowled the best game of the night, with a score of 218. However, Russell Burghard bowled the best combined score over two games with a score of 380. Benjamin Johnson held onto his first place standing in the club.
