Club Sports Roundup

Saturday, November 8th marked the first ever Hofstra Billiards vs. Nassau Community College match, which took place in the Hofstra Student Center Game Room. The field consisted of 16 members from each team in a singles eight ball tournament with single elimination. Nine of Hofstra’s squad made it through to the second round, and the final four was made up solely of Hofstra students. The finals pitted Kendall Gibson versus Colin Merritt, with Gibson taking home the inaugural championship. The teams will be matching up again at a date to be determined, with Nassau hosting the match.

Hofstra Billiards first ever home match was a rousing success.

Hofstra Equestrian had their last show of the season at LIU Post on Sunday, November 9th, and ended their successful year on yet another high. Julissa Hoogeveen had a beautiful Intermediate Over Fences ride earning 3rd place. Lisa Brix and Charlotte Wood also both earned 3rd place in their Novice Over Fences rides. Alie Coolidge and Kierstin Berwick both earned 3rd place in Intermediate Flat. Riders Julianna Foertsch, Angela Bottari, Jacqie Dent, Siobhan Stergis, and Rebecca LeMunyon also accumulated a number of ribbons.

Hofstra Equestrian wrapped up a very successful fall campaign in their final show at LIU Post.
Hofstra Women’s Ultimate took the trip to Pittsgrove, New Jersey on Saturday, November 8th to participate in Fall Brawl 2014. M45 Ultimate started strong, going undefeated with five wins against Temple, Princeton, Cornell B, Stockton, and Goucher, which put them in contention for the championship game on Sunday morning. The team matched up with Towson out of the gates on Sunday, but the Tigers proved to be a tough opponent and a loss sent HUWU into the losers bracket. M45 defeated Stony Brook in the first round and fell to Princeton in the second, leaving them – ultimately - in 10th place.

Hofstra Women’s Club Lacrosse played to an exciting 13-13 tie with Fairfield on Saturday November 8th. The game concluded HUWCL’s 2014 season.
