Club Sports Roundup



Hofstra Club Running competed in the NIRCA Northeast Regional Track & Field Meet at the DaSilva Memorial Track & Field Complex at St. John’s University in Queens, New York on Sunday, March 26th. The men’s team finished 7th overall and the women’s team finished 5th overall. Courtney Gallagher placed 5th in the 5000-meter run with a time of 21:59. Ryan Connell placed 8th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:06. The 4x400-meter relay team of Ryan Connell, Tyler Baron, Andrew Grell, and Adel Elkosh finished in 4th place with a time of 4:02.



Hofstra Club Quidditch flew down to San Marcos, Texas to compete in the Consolation Cup Tournament hosted by Texas State University Quidditch. The tournament featured a total of 22 teams competing on Saturday, March 25th and Sunday, March 26th. On the first day of the tournament Hofstra went 3-2. Robbie Levinson had two snitch catches on the day. Hofstra beat Northern Arizona University, 120*-60, LSU, 120*-20, and UMass Amherst, 140-60* and Hofstra fell to Stephen F. Austin University Lumberjacks, 120*-60, and Southern Illinois University, 110-140*. A successful first day placed Hofstra as the 9th seed in bracket play. Unfortunately, Hofstra would lose their first game on the second day to the University of Northern Colorado, 160*-90, knocking the Flying Dutchmen out of the tournament.

Hofstra Club Equestrian competed at Good Shepherd Farm in Yaphank, New York on Sunday, March 26th. Captain Kate Milford was the only rider that competed in the Regional Competition. She rode well on a difficult horse and placed 6th overall in the region for her Walk Trot Canter Class. The team placed 8th overall for the season.

Hofstra Women’s Club Ultimate Frisbee traveled to West Chester, Pennsylvania for the West Chester Classic Tournament on Saturday, March 25th and Sunday, March 26th. On Saturday, the Pride would beat Philadelphia University, 11-5, but fall to Dickinson College, 10-4, Allegheny College, 10-6, and Messiah College, 11-9. On Sunday, Hofstra would beat St. Joseph’s University, 9-5, but lose a hard-fought game against Allegheny on a universe score, 11-10.



Hofstra Women’s Club Rugby traveled to Siena College in Albany, New York on Sunday, March 19th. The Pride played Northeastern University, Boston University’s two squads and Siena College. Hofstra finished the tournament 3-1, beating Northeastern, Boston University’s Team 2, and Siena College, while falling to Boston University’s Team 1.



Hofstra Women’s Club Lacrosse battled Sacred Heart University on Sunday, March 26th at Shuart Stadium. The Pride would lose 16-4, but Zoe Szczotka would score a hat trick for the Pride. Jessie Allendorf also scored for Hofstra.

Hofstra Men’s Club Ultimate Frisbee traveled to Princeton, New Jersey on Saturday, March 25th and Sunday, March 26th for the Jersey Devil Tournament. The Flying Dutchmen finished the tournament with a 1-6 record.



Hofstra Men’s Club Rugby hosted Stony Brook University on the Hofstra Intramural Rugby Field on Sunday, March 26th. The Pride played four tune-up matches of 7s Rugby in preparation for the Tri State 7s Championship at Vassar College this coming weekend.

Zoe Szczotka-Women’s Club Lacrosse-Sophomore-Health Science-Marietta, GA

In their game against Sacred Heart, Zoe Szczotka played a solid all around game. From taking faceoffs, to playing defense, Zoe culminated her awesome play by scoring a hat trick for the Women’s Club Lacrosse team! Congratulations to Zoe!
