Despite the snowy start to the Spring semester, Hofstra Club Sports are back in full swing, finalizing busy schedules that include many exciting events
between now and May.
Some clubs have already seen action
in 2015, and one group who definitely didn’t mind the snow is Hofstra Ski and
Snowboard Club, who on Saturday, February 28th took a trip to Vermont to scale Okemo
Mountain. The ten participants had a successful day on the slopes while
gathering footage for a promotional short video that we look forward to sharing
in the near future – stay tuned!
Hofstra Rock Climbing Club also hit the
cliffs last week, favoring a more controlled climate at The Cliffs Indoor Rock
Climbing Gym in Long Island City, Queens. The club’s third climb of the
semester was a great success with 24 participants taking the trip.
Hofstra Billiards Club traveled to Baldwin Billiards on Sunday, March 1st for their third week of matches in the new APA season. Inclement travel conditions depleted numbers somewhat, but that didn’t stop Hofstra teams Cruchaga and Fecteau from winning both of their 8-ball and 9-ball matches.
Hofstra Men’s and Women’s Club Lacrosse were each scheduled to play round robin tournaments at Shuart Stadium on Sunday, March 1st, but unfortunately the unexpected heavy snowfall made playing conditions impossible. The one game played was the women’s game vs. Stony Brook, which despite a four-goal spurt in the final 10 minutes, resulted in a narrow 10 – 8 loss for the Pride. Both Lacrosse club teams hit the road this upcoming weekend, with the men traveling to Rutgers to take on Rutgers and Delaware, while the women will seek redemption at Stony Brook in a three-team tournament also including NYU.
