National Eating Disorders Awareness Week

As part of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, counselors from Student Counseling Services were out in the Student Center Atrium yesterday answering questions and providing information about body image and disordered eating.

National Eating Disorders Awareness Week is a national campaign taking place across campuses that aims to increase awareness and education about eating disorders and body image issues and as always Hofstra’s Student Counseling Services was proud to be involved in the effort.

Hofstra's student chapter of Active Minds, organized a wonderful presentation in the evening about the cultural views of body image followed by discussion about ways to recognize the warning signs of an eating disorder. Thanks to Active Minds for their ongoing efforts to bring awareness to the emotional and mental health concerns faced by our students. It was great to see the student involvement on this important issue.

If you were unable to stop by our table or attend the evening program and would like more information about eating disorders please contact Student Counseling Services or visit our website.
